Basically, I have been writing on my own, independent from Substack, for years. Little by little, I have been releasing those penned thoughts to the world here, and some of them are quite good!

I am still working up the courage (and searching for the time) to write new stuff, but when I do, you’ll get it as well!

What will I write about? Right now, I think it is best that I write about my life experience. I like to think that my writing style is fairly straightforward and provokes some thought.

As someone who has lived a quarter century each in Canada and Japan, I have points of view that may differ from those of others. I love sports, music, language learning, interpreting, and to a lesser extent, traveling, fitness, and coffee. (My takes on those topics are not very enlightening and I will probably leave them to people with more skill and experience in those areas than I have.

To date, I have penned a short book about the 2023 Hanshin Tigers championship season, which broke a 38-year-long curse that saw fans begging forgiveness from Colonel Sanders, of all figures.

I am compiling a book of my monthly Daily Sports Online column as well. This one is special to me because it is bilingual - I write the articles in both English and Japanese, but they are not just translations of each other. They are written from a particular cultural vantage point, aimed at the other culture. The English articles are supplemented by glossaries to help Japanese readers who want to better understand native English vocabulary and idioms.

I plan on doing extensive research on baseball interpreters, and dream of one day turning that into a book as well. Bits and pieces of that work will undoubtedly become part of what I post here as well.
